You answered fast, had a good conversation, and then life happened. The lead got busy, you got busy, and a week later the job went to someone who simply stayed in touch.
The fortune is in the follow-up
Following up is not pestering. A customer who reached out wants the work done. A short, helpful nudge a day or two later is a relief to them, not a bother.
A rhythm that works
Day one: instant reply confirming you got it. Day two: a quick check-in with the next step. Day five: a short message with a piece of proof or an answer to a common worry. Day ten: a friendly last touch. Then move them to your longer list.
The point is that it runs the same way every time, whether you remember or not. Set it up once, and it works while you are on the tools.
